It has been almost a month since I last posted! Hopefully I haven't lost all of you due to my lack of new material! I'll post a summary of the month with the most recent at the top of the page. In January I am going to try to change the format to be more like a "traditional" blog rather than just a journal. The main difference will be that the most current posts will be at the top of the page, so the you doesn't have to scroll down the page every time you check for something new.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

One of the projects that has kept me from blogging is photographing Ant Street Inn for their new website and brochure. I try not take photography jobs during the school year, but I just couldn't resist this place. It's one of my favorite historical buildings in downtown Brenham, and it has a beautiful courtyard that is rare for any downtown area. Over the next weeks/months, I'll photograph it inside and out (it has 15 guestrooms, common areas, and a restaurant). Below is a sneak-peek; I'll post updates as I progress through the rooms.

One of my favorite southern plants--Angel's Trumpet. Their huge flowers look like a skirt that a story-book fairy would wear--I know that's random, but welcome to my world:)  Most of ours are the pink variety (I like how they grow fuller, while the yellow ones are more leggy), but this yellow variety is gorgeous right now. As soon as the sun sets, they open up and share their intoxicating citrus scent. If the evenings/mornings are cool enough, they will stay open during the day (but they always save their fragrance for the evening...). One sight that always makes me smile is a glimpse of a tiny hummingbird being swallowed by the trumpets soft petals for a few seconds before venturing to the next one.

We took off yesterday in celebration of our anniversary to hang out together and work outside in this beautiful fall Texas weather. It was a great day--we got a lot of work done in the yard, but it didn't feel like work at all. It was just relaxing to be outdoors with each other doing whatever needed to be done.

Today was another story; Harper framed a form for the base of one set of stairs.

Gary, Harper's dad, came and helped him mix and pour the cement. The foundation for the bottom of the steps is 16' x 5.5'.

Matt Damon did not waste time when he realized Harper was too busy to finish his taco...

...Up to no good--again!

The chickens put any cat to shame when it comes to curiosity. Since they left tracks all over the last project that required cement, I decided to try the plastic owls as a deterrent.

Ava is still thinking about it, though...
